You can sign in to Cardzen with email and password, with Google, or with Apple. A single account can have any combination of these methods linked at the same time, and you can manage them from Account.
Open Account and tap the Sign In & Security row to see what is currently linked, add or reset your password, or connect or disconnect Google and Apple.
How to Add a Password
If you signed up with Google or Apple, you can add a password so you can also sign in with email and password.
- Go to Account
- Tap the Sign In & Security row to open the drawer or dialog
- On the Password row, tap Add a Password
- Enter a new password and confirm it
- Tap Add Password
After adding a password, you can sign in with your email and the new password from any device. If your email is not yet verified, Cardzen also sends a verification link to your email address so you can fully secure the account.
How to Reset Your Password
If you already have a password linked, you can request a reset email from the same surface.
- Go to Account
- Tap the Sign In & Security row
- On the Password row, tap Reset Password
- Check your inbox for the reset email and follow the link to set a new password
If you no longer have access to your email, sign in another way (Google or Apple if connected) or contact support@cardzen.ai.
How to Connect Google or Apple
The reliable way to add Google or Apple to your existing Cardzen account is from Sign In & Security while you are already signed in.
- Sign in to the Cardzen account you want to keep
- Go to Account
- Tap the Sign In & Security row
- Find the Google or Apple row and tap Connect
- Choose the Google or Apple account at the same email as your Cardzen account email
- The row flips to Linked and a confirmation toast appears
After the link, both methods point to the same Cardzen account, so your cards, chat history, credits, and preferences stay together. Next time you sign in, you can use either provider.
Connect requires the provider email to match your Cardzen account email after Cardzen cleans both values. If the provider email is different, the connect is rejected and the row goes back to its previous state. Pick the provider account that matches your Cardzen email and try again. Cardzen does not treat Gmail dot or plus aliases as the same email for this check.
If you are signed out and tap Continue with Google or Continue with Apple at the same email, Cardzen may still guide you through a one-time link page when Firebase detects the conflict. That path still works, but Sign In & Security Connect is the recommended path because it avoids the case where a signed-out provider sign-in creates a brand new Cardzen account instead of attaching to your existing one. See Link a Sign-In Method for the conflict path.
What Linked Means
A linked sign-in method is one you can use to access your Cardzen account. The Sign In & Security drawer or dialog shows a Linked status pill on each method that is currently active.
- Password. Set so you can sign in with email and password.
- Google. Connected so you can sign in with Google.
- Apple. Connected so you can sign in with Apple.
Linked methods are managed in Cardzen. The provider account itself (your Google or Apple ID) is managed by Google or Apple.
How to Disconnect Google or Apple
You can disconnect Google or Apple from Cardzen as long as you keep at least one other sign-in method.
- Go to Account
- Tap the Sign In & Security row
- Find the Google or Apple row and tap Disconnect
- Confirm in the prompt
The row stays in place; the confirmation appears inside the row, not in a separate dialog. Tap Confirm to finish or Cancel to back out.
When disconnecting Apple, the confirmation also explains that this only removes Apple as a Cardzen sign-in method. It does not revoke Cardzen in your Apple Account settings (called Apple ID settings on some devices), and it will not send a separate Apple revocation notice. To revoke access at the source too, manage Cardzen from Apple Account settings on your device.
If reconnecting Apple is difficult after a disconnect, or Apple keeps returning a private relay address instead of offering Share My Email, remove only Cardzen's Sign in with Apple authorization from Apple Account settings and then come back to Sign In & Security -> Connect. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings -> [your name] -> Sign in with Apple -> Cardzen, then tap Delete or Stop Using and follow Apple's confirmation steps. This Apple setting does not delete your Apple Account, your Apple ID, your Cardzen account, or your Cardzen data. Do not use the Cardzen Delete Account flow for this. If Cardzen asks you to sign in again afterward, sign in with password, Google, or another method that is still linked to this account, then try Connect Apple again and choose Share My Email when Apple asks.
If you decide later that you want that provider connected again, stay signed into the Cardzen account you want to keep and use Sign In & Security -> Connect on the row. Cardzen cannot promise that signing out and signing back in with the rolled-back provider will reattach to the same account; Firebase may treat that as a brand new sign-in.
Why Password Cannot Be Disconnected
Password stays linked once you add it because it is the stable fallback for password reset and email change. Cardzen keeps password linked so you always have a way to recover access if Google or Apple is unavailable.
If you want to change your password later, tap Reset Password on the Password row in Sign In & Security.
What Happens to Your Data When You Disconnect a Provider
Your cards, chat history, credits, preferences, and plan are tied to your Cardzen account, not to a specific sign-in method. Disconnecting Google or Apple removes the link in Cardzen but does not change anything in your Google or Apple account, and it does not delete or alter your Cardzen data.
If your Cardzen account has Apple linked, deleting your account also revokes the Apple authorization. Disconnecting Apple from Sign In & Security does not revoke that authorization on its own; if you also want to revoke it at the source, manage Cardzen from Apple Account settings on your device.
Mismatched Provider Emails After a Cardzen Email Change
If you change your Cardzen account email after Google or Apple is linked, the email attached to those external provider accounts does not change. Cardzen continues to recognize you when you sign in with the same provider, even if the provider email is different from your new Cardzen email.
You can see linked sign-in emails in the Manage Email drawer. The group lists Google and Apple with whichever email each provider reports. Cardzen system emails (verification, password reset, account notices) always go to your Cardzen account email at the top of that drawer.
Trying to Sign In With a Different Google or Apple Account at the Same Email
If your Cardzen account email matches the email of a Google or Apple account that is not the one currently linked, signing in with that other account will not work. Each Cardzen account can only have one Google identity and one Apple identity attached at a time, so trying to attach a second Google or Apple account is rejected to protect your existing link.
To get into the account:
- Sign in with your password instead, or use the Google or Apple account that is already linked. The Manage Email drawer shows the linked sign-in email under Linked sign-in emails so you can confirm which one to use.
If you specifically want a different Google or Apple account to be the linked one going forward:
- Sign in via your password or the currently linked provider
- Open Account and tap the Sign In & Security row
- Tap Disconnect on the provider whose link you want to change
- The row flips back to Connect. Tap Connect and choose the new Google or Apple account at your Cardzen email
Why Verify Your Email?
Until your email is verified, signing in with Google or Apple at the same address can replace any of your linked sign-in methods, not just your password. This applies whether you signed up with email and password, with Apple, or with Google, and whether you have one method linked or several.
In practice this means: if your email is unverified and you have password plus Apple linked, then sign in with Google at the same email, the resulting account may end up with only Google linked. The password and the Apple link are removed, and you would have to set a new password and reconnect Apple to use them again.
This rule comes from the verified-vs-unverified asymmetry in how identity providers are trusted. A verified provider sign-in (Google, Apple) at an unverified-email account is treated as the new authoritative identity, and the prior unverified account state is discarded.
To avoid this, verify your email after signing up:
- Go to Account
- Tap Manage Email
- Tap Send Verification Email
- Open the email on any device and tap the link
After your email is verified, adding or signing in with another provider links cleanly without replacing anything.
If your sign-in methods were already replaced, you can recover them:
- Sign in with whichever method now works (typically the most recent provider you used)
- Open Account
- Tap the Sign In & Security row
- On the Password row, tap Add a Password and set a new password if you want email and password sign-in back
- To reconnect Google or Apple, tap Connect on that row from the same Sign In & Security surface and choose the matching provider account
After that, email and password sign-in works again with the new password.
