Updating Your Credits

Keep your credit tracking up to date for an accurate picture of your benefits

Pro feature. Updating credit usage requires Cardzen Pro. Free users see the credit drawer in a locked state (period pills disabled, slider locked at 0, and a "Get Pro to Track Credits" button in place of the usage selector).

How to Mark a Credit as Used

  1. Go to My Credits
  2. Find the credit you want to update
  3. Click on the credit row
  4. Choose the appropriate status:
    • Redeemed: You've fully used the credit
    • Partially Used: You've used some but not all (enter the amount)
    • Not Used: Reset to available status
    • Not Tracked: Skip this credit. It is excluded from your totals, streaks, and AI recommendations until you turn tracking back on. Use this for credits you never plan to use, so they stop affecting your stats.
  5. Click Save

When to Update

SituationWhen to Update
Used a dining credit at a restaurantAfter the meal
Uber/Lyft credit for a rideAfter the ride
Streaming credits (auto-apply)After you see the statement credit
Travel credit for a bookingAfter booking or when credit posts
Monthly reviewLast few days of the month

Partially Used Credits

Some credits can be used partially. For example, a $15 Uber credit might be used $8 for one ride, leaving $7 for later in the month.

When marking a credit as Partially Used:

  1. Click on the credit
  2. Select Partially Used
  3. Enter the amount you've used so far
  4. The remaining amount will be calculated automatically

Automatic Resets

Credits automatically reset based on their frequency:

  • Monthly: Resets on the 1st of each month
  • Quarterly: Resets on Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1, Oct 1
  • Semi-Annual: Resets on Jan 1 and Jul 1
  • Annual (Calendar): Resets on January 1
  • Annual (Anniversary): Resets on your card anniversary date

Note: When a credit resets, it returns to "Available" status. Your usage from the previous period is saved in your credit history.

Not Tracked Credits

If you don't want to track a specific credit (maybe you never use it, or the category doesn't apply to you), you can manually set it to Not Tracked. Only you control this status. The system never marks a credit as Not Tracked automatically. Not Tracked credits:

  • Won't appear in your monthly stats
  • Won't count toward "unused" credits
  • Won't break your streaks
  • Can be turned back on at any time by setting the status to Used, Partially Used, or Not Used

One period vs. the whole credit. Setting a credit to Not Tracked from My Credits only affects that one period. The next period the credit will be back to Not Used and showing up in your stats again. If you want to stop tracking a credit entirely (every period, forever), go to My Cards, open the card, switch to the Credits tab, expand the credit, and flip its tracking toggle off. That hides it everywhere until you turn it back on.
