What is the Daily Zen?
The Daily Zen is a personalized summary you open from a new chat. Each day, it surfaces what matters most: a credit about to expire, a quick win you can act on today, and how your monthly progress is shaping up. No digging, no dashboards.
When It Appears
- Ready once per day when you open a new chat
- Open it from the Daily Zen button in the top corner of a new chat. On a fresh day, a short teaser also appears on the new chat screen until you view it. The full Daily Zen opens in a dialog on desktop or a bottom drawer on mobile
- Rolls over to a new day at midnight Eastern Time
- Cardzen pre-generates your fresh digest by around 5:00 AM ET so it is ready when you open the app
- You can also regenerate it manually with the small refresh icon in the footer of the Daily Zen dialog or drawer. Its tooltip reads Regenerate snapshot and it rebuilds the summary from your current credit state
Timezone: The Daily Zen uses Eastern Time for day boundaries. The day rolls over at 12:00 AM ET, and a fresh digest is pre-generated for you by around 5:00 AM ET each morning. If you open the app between midnight and 5 AM ET, a new digest is generated on demand.
Content Sections
Your Daily Zen is short on purpose. Each day you see up to three sections chosen from the catalog below, picked based on what is happening in your wallet that day.
| Section | What It Shows | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Expiring Soon | Credits expiring in the next several days and the dollar value at risk if not used | Always shown |
| Quick Win | The single most actionable credit you can use today | Always shown |
| Your Progress | How much of this period's available credits you've used so far | Always shown |
| New Credits | Credits that just refreshed at the start of the month | Triggered |
| Last Month | Recap of what you used and missed last month | Triggered |
| Upcoming Refresh | Five-day lookahead before any quarterly, semi-annual, or annual credit resets | Triggered |
| ROI Snapshot | Net value you've earned from your cards versus annual fees | Rotating |
| Category Spotlight | A spending category where you have strong multipliers or unused credits | Rotating |
| Lost Value | Credits that recently expired without being used, so you can adjust | Rotating |
| Pattern Insight | A behavioral trend the AI noticed in your credit usage | Rotating |
| Card Pick | A specific card to favor today based on current opportunities | Rotating |
| Year Over Year | How this month or this quarter compares to the same period last year | Rotating |
Section Types
- Always shown sections appear every day when you have data to fill them. These are the core of the digest and cover what is expiring, what to act on today, and how the month is tracking.
- Triggered sections appear only when the timing or your credit data calls for them, such as the first five days of the month or a five-day lookahead before a credit resets.
- Rotating sections cycle in based on your activity so the digest stays fresh instead of repeating the same view every day.
Personalize Your Daily Zen
Pro users can shape the tone and emphasis of the digest with Daily Zen Instructions, a separate field from your chat custom instructions.
How to Set Daily Zen Instructions
- Go to Preferences
- Find the Daily Zen section (Pro only)
- Enter your guidance in the Daily Zen Instructions text field (up to 500 characters)
- Click Save Preferences
Examples
| Goal | Example Instruction |
|---|---|
| Prioritize expirations | "focus on expiring credits first" |
| Set the tone | "keep it upbeat" |
| Lead with impact | "lead with the biggest ROI wins" |
| Travel focus | "emphasize travel credits and lounge access" |
Chat instructions and Daily Zen instructions are separate. Your chat preferences shape conversations; your Daily Zen preferences shape only the morning digest. Updating one does not change the other.
Regenerating Your Daily Zen
The Regenerate snapshot button rebuilds your digest from your current data. You can use it after updating credit statuses, removing a card, or saving new Daily Zen Instructions.
Daily Refresh Limit
- You can regenerate up to 5 times per day (resets at midnight ET)
- The button shows how many refreshes you have left today
- When you reach the limit, the button is disabled and reads (refreshes tomorrow)
- Generation failures and validation retries do not count against your limit
Tip: If your digest shows credits expiring soon, check your My Credits page to see the full details and update your status after using them. Updating credit statuses and regenerating gives you a fresh view that reflects your actions.
