Accessing Previous Chats
View all your past conversations in Previous Chats.
How to Access
- On desktop, click the chat history icon in the sidebar navigation bar
- On mobile, tap See all chats below the Recent Chats section in the menu
- Or browse the Recent Chats section in the sidebar to see your latest conversations
Conversations are listed with the most recent at the top. Each entry shows a preview of the conversation topic.
Navigating Conversations
Opening a Chat
Click on any conversation to open it and view the full exchange.
Continuing a Conversation
When you open a previous chat, you can continue the conversation by typing a new message. The AI will have context from your previous messages in that conversation.
Tip: If you want to start fresh without the previous context, start a new chat instead of continuing an old one.
Conversation Limits and Context
A Free conversation can store and display up to 40 messages. A Pro conversation can store and display up to 100 messages. One user message and one AI response count as two messages, so Cardzen starts a new turn only when both slots are available. At the limit, the composer is disabled and offers a link to create a new chat. Older installed app versions can still stop at their earlier 20-message limit; update Cardzen to use the expanded limits.
The AI does not send the entire stored conversation back to the model on every turn. It uses up to 16 recent prior messages on Free or 30 on Pro, subject to safety and size limits. In a saved conversation, a bounded recap can carry forward useful goals, constraints, and resolved references from older messages. That recap belongs only to the same chat, is deleted with that chat, and is not treated as current proof of your wallet, credit balances, or eligibility.
If chat history is off, Cardzen does not save the conversation or create an older-message recap. Starting a new chat also starts with a clean slate. Downgrading does not delete a longer Pro conversation, but a conversation already at or above the Free limit cannot accept another turn unless you upgrade again or start a new chat.
Starting New Chats
To start a new conversation:
- Click the New Chat button in the sidebar
- Or navigate to Home and start typing
Each new chat starts with a clean slate. The AI won't have context from previous conversations unless you're continuing an existing chat.
Chat History Settings
You can control whether your conversations are saved in Preferences.
Track Chat History
- Enabled (default): Conversations are saved and accessible in Previous Chats
- Disabled: Conversations are not saved after you leave
Note: Disabling chat history tracking only affects new conversations. Previously saved chats will still be available until you delete them.
Deleting Chat History
To delete all your chat history:
- Go to Account
- Expand the Danger Zone card at the bottom of the page
- Click Delete Chat History
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears
This is permanent. Deleted chat history cannot be recovered.
